Tips for Safer Workstation Set-up
Head should be balanced on the vertebral column. Neck and shoulder muscles relaxed.
The chair needs to be, stable, adjustable, and with a good back support. Elbows should be supported and shoulder relaxed.
A low desk can cause “C” spine and back pain, A desk that is too high cause shoulder to shrug leading to neck tension and pain.
Keyboard and mouse should be positioned at easy reach. Keep enough space to rest hands in front of the keyword.
The monitor should be positioned at arm length; the top of the screen should be at eye level.
Use a copyholder when necessary to prevent prolonged neck flexion.
Feet should be properly supported on the floor. Use footrest when necessary.
Blink regularly. Apply 20-20-20 rule (every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds).
Take regular brakes and stretch.
